Meet Daniella, Kay, Lewis, and Beau, a Dutch family embarking on an exciting journey to explore the world!
Our story began with a dream long ago, but only now do we feel truly prepared to set sail. Over the past years, we bid farewell to our old lifestyle and focused on making our dream a reality. Despite facing numerous challenges, one major hurdle was our lack of boating experience.
Yet, Kay, true to his adventurous spirit, refused to settle for anything less than extraordinary. He dove headfirst into learning and recently completed the RYA Yachtmaster Ocean track, a significant achievement in the world of sailing. This not only honed his skills but also paved the way for him to turn his passion into a profession, earning a living while exploring the world.
Saying goodbye to our old life wasn't easy; we had to part with our beloved dream house and sell many of our possessions. However, letting go also brought a sense of freedom, emphasizing what truly matters: cherishing time with loved ones.
Safety, especially for our children, was paramount. Recognizing the inherent risks, we took extensive safety precautions and prepared diligently. Yet, we understand the need to remain vigilant throughout our journey at sea.
Education posed another intriguing challenge. Through collaboration with the school, we established a balanced arrangement combining homeschooling with traditional education.
Over the past two years, we sailed the Adriatic Sea, forging new friendships and gaining a taste of nomadic life. Now, as February 2024 approaches, the call of the ocean beckons us for real, marking the beginning of our true adventure!
